THE ESMORIZ WETLAND IS ONE OF THE MOST FASCINATING PLACES FOR BIRDWATCHING IN PORTUGAL. THIS UNIQUE ECOSYSTEM, WHICH COMBINES LAGOONS, REED FIELDS AND OPEN AREAS, SERVES AS AN ESSENTIAL STOP-OFF POINT FOR MIGRATORY BIRDS AND PERMANENT HABITAT FOR SEVERAL SPECIES.
During birdwatching tours in the Esmoriz wetland, participants will have the opportunity to spot a wide variety of species, from herons and sandpipers to ducks and birds of prey. This vibrant ecosystem is particularly attractive during migration times, when birds from impressive distances make their stop here. Guided by experienced ornithologists, participants will learn to identify birds by their behavior, song and plumage, using binoculars and field guides to enrich the experience. In addition to observing wildlife, the tour includes educational moments about the importance of conserving wetlands and the threats they face, such as habitat loss. This program is ideal for beginners and bird enthusiasts looking to explore one of the most important places for biodiversity in Portugal, all in a peaceful and inspiring environment.

Main species: Mallard, Grey Heron, Sanderling, Black-headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, Western Marsh Harrier, Eurasian Crag Martin, Meadow Pipit, White Wagtail, European Robin, Common Stonechat, Cetti's Warbler, Reed Bunting, European Starling.
Other species: Grey Plover, Sanderling, Dunlin.

Everyone is welcome, observation tours are aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about wildlife and observe the different species in a particular region. The guide will explain more about the different species we will observe, as well as their importance to ecosystems.
Before the tour, in the pre-tour briefing and throughout the walk, you will have the opportunity to discuss more about species observation. I will give you several tips to make the most of the tour and you are free to ask any questions.
